For the Millennium, we commissioned a Landscape Management & Conservation Plan, taking advantage of a generous grant from English Heritage. This is a blueprint for the regular management and future development of the Landscape. It was completed by Patrick James of the Landscape Agency.
Recently we have completed:
- Restoration and re-fencing of the parkland between the Gardens and Black Fen.
- Planting 60 broad-leaved limes as the next generation of Broadwalk avenue trees.
- Replacement of the lead, stolen from the Round House roof.
Currently we are undertaking:
- Restoration of the Museum Temple
- Opening-up the overgrown rides in Black Fen and restoration of their drainage
Our future plans include:
- Reopening the North Drive to restore the planned entrance to the Estate
- Repairs to the clay-lined part of the T-Pond, which is leaking
- Restoration of the Parterre and provision of water to the Queen's Hollow and Parterre
- Restoration of the cascade and ponds into the valley below the Obelisk Pond
- Restoration of the interior of the Round House
- Restoration of the Gothic Temple
- Restoration of the Whittle Car Grotto
The Geography Department at Leeds University carried out a feasibility study for the restoration of Bramham's water features. It was in two parts, which you can download here, Ground Penetrating Radar Survey and Hydrological Instrumentation and Operation of the water features, water availability and potential for restoration
